Payment Policy

Effective date: 10 May 2026

This Payment Policy explains how payments are processed at brandskyl.com. It is part of our Terms of Service.

Accepted payment methods

We accept the following at checkout:

  • Shop Pay — Shopify’s accelerated one-tap checkout.
  • Credit and debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
  • Digital wallets: Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • Klarna — pay later or split into instalments. Subject to status and Klarna’s own terms (see below).

Available methods are also displayed in real time on the checkout page based on your device and order value.

Currency

All transactions are processed in pounds sterling (GBP £). If you pay with a card or wallet linked to a non-GBP account, your bank performs the currency conversion at its own rate and may charge a foreign-transaction fee. Brandskyl has no control over those rates or fees.

VAT

Prices shown on brandskyl.com include any applicable UK VAT. Your order confirmation will show the VAT element where applicable.

When your card is charged

Your payment method is charged at the moment you submit your order (or, for Klarna, in line with Klarna’s own schedule). If a charge cannot be authorised, the order will not be placed and you will not be billed.

Klarna — buy now, pay later

If you choose Klarna at checkout, your contract for credit (or deferred payment) is between you and Klarna Bank AB (publ), which is authorised and regulated in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority for the provision of consumer credit and payment services. Brandskyl receives the full purchase price up front and is not party to the credit agreement.

Klarna may run a soft credit check that does not affect your credit score. If you fail to make payments to Klarna, Klarna may report this to credit reference agencies, which can affect your ability to borrow in future. Read Klarna’s terms before proceeding.

Pre-authorisation holds

Some banks place a temporary pre-authorisation hold on your account equal to the order total before the actual charge settles. This is standard banking practice and is not a duplicate charge. The hold typically clears within 3–5 working days if your order is cancelled or fails.

Security

  • All checkout pages are encrypted with SSL/TLS — you’ll see the padlock in your browser bar.
  • Card payments are processed by Shopify Payments and other PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant providers. Brandskyl never sees or stores your full card number.
  • Your card issuer may apply 3-D Secure (Verified by Visa, Mastercard SecureCode) on some transactions, in line with the UK’s Strong Customer Authentication rules. This is for your protection.

Billing address verification

The billing address you enter at checkout must match the address on file with your card issuer. Mismatched billing details are the most common reason a card is declined and may also trigger an automatic fraud review.

Declined or failed payments

If your payment is declined, your order will not be created and you will not be charged. Common causes include insufficient funds, an expired card, an incorrect billing address, or a hold placed by your bank. Contact your card issuer first — they can usually resolve the block in minutes.

Fraud prevention

We use Shopify’s built-in fraud analysis on every order. Orders that show high-risk indicators may be held while we verify identity. If we need additional information from you, we will email you — please respond within 48 hours so we can release your order. We reserve the right to cancel and refund orders we believe are fraudulent.

Discount codes and gift cards

  • Only one discount code may be applied per order unless a promotion explicitly says otherwise.
  • Gift cards may generally be combined with discount codes.
  • Discounts cannot be applied retroactively to past orders.
  • Promotions may not be combined with wholesale or partner pricing.

Refunds

Refunds are issued to the original payment method and are governed by our Refund & Returns Policy. Refunds typically appear in your account 5–10 working days after we process them, depending on your bank.

Receipts and invoices

An order confirmation with itemised totals (including VAT where applicable) is emailed to you the moment your order is placed. If you need a separate VAT invoice or a receipt sent to a different email address, email info@brandskyl.com with your order number and we’ll send one over.
